About the Project: The ACCTION project is a $1.7 million initiative funded by the National Science Foundation (NSF) and led by Randolph Community College. Our goal is to fix the way math is taught in community colleges. We are moving away from passive lectures and towards Active Learning - classrooms where students are moving, collaborating, talking, and solving problems together on whiteboards. Questions & Answers
- The logo needs to capture the spirit of this national movement. It should feel modern, innovative, and human.
- Keywords: Energy, Movement, Innovation, Collaboration, Engagement, and Clarity.
- The Transformation: Moving from static to dynamic; from "sitting and listening" to "doing and talking."
- Accessibility: You can include subtle math references, but avoid clichés like confusing equations. We want math to look accessible and inviting, not scary. Math shouldn't look like a "confusing wall of equations." It should look like a team sport—active and inviting.
- The Acronym: The logo must feature the word ACCTION.
- Format: Entries can be submitted as JPG, PNG, or PDF. (Note: The winner will ideally need to provide a high-resolution vector file or editable file, e.g., Adobe Illustrator).
- Originality: Work must be 100% original. No use of AI-generated content or copyrighted art.
- Visual Elements: Consider subtle nods to storytelling (a lens or frame) alongside symbols of collaboration or growth.
- The "No White" Rule: In the actual classroom, we are avoiding white surfaces because they glare on camera. Consider using a palette that feels modern (Grays, "Endless Sea" Blues, etc.) rather than traditional school colors.
- You must be an enrolled Randolph Community College student to enter.
